Waste sorting in holiday homes
Metal
Metal is a resource that can be recycled many times over. Cans and other metal are melted down into new metal.
When you put metal in the recycling bin, it should be scraped clean and drip-free.
National criteria
To ensure that waste sorting is more or less the same throughout Denmark, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency has created the national criteria below.
PERMITTED
Principles:
- Small metal objects
- Items that mainly consist of metal (e.g. with small plastic parts can be handled)
Examples:
- Food cans
- Beer and soft drink cans with no deposit
- Caps and lids
- Night light holders
- Pots and pans
- Cutlery
- Nails and screws
- Taps and mixer taps
- Empty coffee cartridges
- Aluminium foil
- Aluminium trays
FORBIDDEN
Principles:
- Items containing hazardous substances that will give problems recycling
- Black metal (at the recycling centre)
Examples:
- BBQ gas bottles
(at the recycling centre)
- Gas bottles
(at the recycling centre or return to the place of purchase)
- Spray cans
(at the recycling centre)
- Metal with electronics
(at the recycling centre)
- Metal with batteries
(at the recycling centre)
- Coffee cartridges with coffee in
(in your garbage bin as residual waste)
- Large pressurised bottles/containers
(at the recycling centre or return to the place of purchase)
- Metals with chemicals
(at the recycling centre)
- Needles from insulin pens
(take to a pharmacy)
Find the nearest recycling station
If you have more metal waste than you can fit in the bin, you can also drop off leftover waste at a recycling station.
