Waste water treatment
Our most important task as a wastewater utility is to ensure that the wastewater from our customers is collected and treated sufficiently to be discharged without harming our natural environment.
We work with the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment plants.
Although scientists disagree on how much more rain will fall, there is a consensus that the future in Denmark will be wetter. At the same time, some of the rainfalls will be more violent than we are used to. Therefore, DIN Forsyning is in the process of preparing the sewers for future rains. This means, among other things, that we are separating wastewater pipes from rainwater pipes. This minimises the risk of flooding and ensures that our treatment plants can focus their efforts on treating wastewater instead of rainwater.
Each year, our 18 wastewater treatment plants receive a total of 22,150,000,000 m3 of wastewater from around 67,000 private households, holiday homes and businesses. The sizes of the wastewater treatment plants vary greatly, and we are working hard to phase out the oldest and smallest wastewater treatment plants so that we can utilise the economies of scale of large, modern plants.
